Drop In Tutoring - How An Inside Look At Academic Success Explains

Drop In Tutoring - How An Inside Look At Academic Success ExplainsIt's interesting to see the contrast between UW Madison, a city on the top of the Midwest, and Iowa City, one of the traditional cities of this part of the world. This city has completely changed the American policy of education. Here we have a situation where school administrators prefer for children to be exposed to technology instead of music and art. Music, for example, is still an important part of education, but even more than this, students must learn to use it properly. The University of Iran has a teaching program called Logic Tutoring, which focuses on developing children's logic skills. The strategy is to create a child's mind as if he or she were younger, so that they can grow in their thinking and decision-making ability. There are a lot of conditions in the US, but in other countries, the government does a lot of tutoring, which uses small private tutors or even a professor from a private university to tea ch children.A lot of American citizens don't realize that they can find foreign tutors to teach their children in the US. Foreign tutors can be really expensive, but this will give you an opportunity to give your children a chance to learn something new. There are some professors in the United States who are very successful at tutoring students, but it will not happen if you don't try.Wisconsin offers many things that make it a great place to start a drop in tutoring program. The location in the state is ideal, as well as the learning environment. Students can study without fear of getting lost in a university campus or shopping malls. All students will be taught in a language which is close to their own native tongue. Many students find it easier to study in their native language, rather than having to repeat it everytime they want to. This can be difficult for many students who are afraid of failing, especially if they have to repeat the same piece of work over again. They will not be able to do that if they are only taught in English. Many students will prefer to learn a new language so that they can interact with people in their society and culture, as well as improve their own culture in the United States.English is the language most students in the United States are taught in the American curriculum. While this will definitely make it easier for your child to learn, the curriculum was built for students who speak English as their first language. If your child needs to learn a second language, your first choice will be to choose the University of Iowa in order to get involved in a tutoring program. You will be able to communicate with many professors from all over the world, and they will help your child to think critically and to get better at reading and writing. This program will be geared towards developing skills in English, such as pronunciation and spelling. It will also make your child learn about how technology works, which will help them make a po sitive choice when they are young about how they want to learn. Their computer and phone usage will also be assessed and they will be given feedback on how they are doing. If you are looking for a way to get your child better, you might consider enrolling in an English program at the University of Iowa.

Whether it’s with a tomato or creme fraiche base, sweet, savoury, etc. there are tonnes of different types of pizza available on the market. While pizzas originated in Italy, it was their appearances in American popular culture that made them globally famous. (Source: marckbass8)In the UK, pizzas are the most popular food in restaurants, the second most popular in supermarkets, and the fourth most popular fast food item. The market itself is worth £78.7 billion! The history of pizza goes back to the late antiquity. The first signs of pizza date back to 997. Etymologically, the word has two possible origins. It may come from the German word “bizzo”, which referred to a “piece of bread” or the Greek word “pitta”, also bread-related.The first pizza started as a piece of bread with different ingredients on it. It would go through several iterations before becoming the pizza as we know it today. It started looking like a modern pizza around the Middle Ages when trade was booming. It’s also during this time that the Bretons started making galettes, the famous buckwheat pancake that would lead to the creation of cre pes.In Italy, the tomato and buffalo milk, which was used to make mozzarella, was incredibly influential on the development of the pizza. In Naples, people started by putting tomato onto their bread, like bruschetta as we know it today. The pizza wasn’t far away.In the 18th century, 1780, to be precise, Raffaele Esposito decided to call his cheese and tomato pizza the “Margherita” in honour of the queen. Furthermore, the pizza became popular and regularly eaten by the nobility. The pizza would later cross the borders and become the international success it is today.Discover some more easy recipes for beginners. How Can You Make a Good Pizza Dough?Every chef will tell you that good dough is the most important part of a pizza. Some prefer a thin base, others a deep pan. So here are two recipes for the dough you prefer. You must get the dough right if you want to make a good pizza. (Source: Skitterphoto)Dough for a Thin CrustFirstly, you’ll need the following ingredients:500g of flour1 sachet of baker’s yeast1 teaspoon of salt250ml of warm water1 teaspoon of sugarPour the flour into a mixing bowl and then make a well.  Place the salt, sugar, and baker’s yeast in a measuring cup. Pour the 250ml of warm water into a cup as you mix it with a fork.Cover this with cling film and let sit for around 10 minutes. At the end of the 10 minutes, it should be brown with foam on top.  Pour this mix into the mixing bowl and start mixing by hand.Once the water’s been absorbed into the mix, knead the dough on a flat surface with flour on it so that it doesn’t stick. Knead for a few minutes and then add some olive oil. Keep kneading for a few more minutes. You’ll then need to let the dough sit for around an hour. Cover it with a tea towel and put it near a heat source (pan, chimney, radiator, etc.).Afterwa rds, you’ll need to knead the dough for a few more minutes. Take as much as you’ll need since you can always freeze any extra dough. Now you need to spread the dough over an oiled dish. You can then cook it in the oven for 10 minutes at 250 °C.Dough for a Thick CrustFor a thicker dough, you’ll need:350g of flour (plus 100g for your bench).2 teaspoons of salt1 sachet of baker’s yeast3 tablespoons of olive oil250ml of warm waterThis recipe is a lot like the first. However, start by pouring the flour into a large mixing bowl and immediately adding the salt, baker’s yeast, and olive oil.  Then pour in the water as you delicately mix the dough. Keep mixing into the water stops sticking.Like with the other dough, let this dough sit for around an hour covered by a damp tea towel.Cover your bench with flour and spread out your dough before putting it in the oven on a tray. You can either oil the tray or use baking paper to ensure it doesn’t stick.Cook at 220 °C for around 12 minut es.Fancy something a little different?Learn how to make your own quiche. The Key Ingredient to Leadership - Introvert Whisperer

Introvert Whisperer / The Key Ingredient to Leadership - Introvert Whisperer The Key Ingredient to Leadership Many people are reluctant to step forward and take the initiative or leadership without deliberate “permission” by management to do so.   Imagine if every leader in every setting waited to be given permission.   Nothing would get done. You’d have nothing but chaos. You have to understand that even when you are given authority or a title that no one actually gives you permission to take action.   You must find the power in yourself to step forward and be responsible for your work and the work of others.   You empower or authorize YOU.   No one can actually do this for you and is the catalyst behind every person that steps up to lead. Another way for you to think about this is to think of it as informal leadership or leading without a title.   Even though it doesn’t get discussed very often, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t expected or even required in every group.   A manager/leader simply can’t cover all of the bases all the time and can’t even delegate responsibility for everything.   That’s why it’s important to have this type of person (or several) in a group to rely on.   In fact, if it were my group, I’d want everyone to be like this.   A group like that could crush the work and up-level the potential.   A real dream team and every one would be seriously motivated and satisfied. If you tend to lack the ability to empower you, I understand your struggle.   It’s like everything else; you start small and build up your skill.   You may have a fear for empowering you to step forward.   If you do, most likely its irrational and you have to push through it.   If you are performing your job it will be a rare and miserable manager that would punish you for showing up as an informal leader (even if they lack Leadership skills on some level they know it and know they need it in someone). The world needs more Leadership.   Make it you. What is it Like to Attend Texas Christian University

What is it Like to Attend Texas Christian University The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teach theyre sharing their college experiences as well. Zachary is a 2013 graduate of Texas Christian University and holds a Bachelors degree in Film Studies and German Language. He is an Austin tutor specializing in Literature tutoring, Writing tutoringand all levels of German tutoring. See what he had to say about his alma mater: VT: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. How urban or safe is the campus? Are there buses or do you need a car/bike? Zachary: The campus itself is extremely beautiful and easily walkable. Its fairly insulated from the rest of the city, although it is near one street thats been known to be questionable at night. Even so, the campus itself is very safe; it has plenty of security, with outdoor stations to call for help well dispersed throughout. There are buses, which are relatively reliable, and the campus itself is easily walkable. VT: How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants? Zachary: This was probably my schools best point; there were always multiple professors, advisors, and tutors immediately available for any student for a whole host of subjects. In my experience, I found all of them to be extremely friendly, welcoming, and easy to talk to. I was able to foster friendships with many of my professors, and was comfortable enough to stop by their offices just to say hello. VT: How would you describe the dorm life rooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Zachary: The dorms are very nice and are constantly being renovated. The student union, where students may dine with their meal plans, is generally passable, but not particularly exciting most of the time. TCU does go out of its way to provide opportunities to socialize with other students and there are tons of clubs and events to get involved with. VT: Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? What did you study and why? Did the university do a good job supporting your particular area of study? Zachary: The Business School is one of the most supported areas of study, but many of the others were also very well represented. My particular fields of study (German and Film) were really well supported and provided a lot of opportunities for outside work and internships, as well as fantastic professors. VT: How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Zachary: I found it very easy to make friends as a freshman; the university provides nearly constant opportunities for socializing with other students and fostering new connections and friendships. Greek life is a pretty major part of the campus culture, but one can pretty easily find good groups of friends outside of that particular setting. VT: How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services?Do many reputable companies recruit on campus? Zachary: I didnt personally make much use of the Career Center, but from my experiences with it, I found them to provide a lot of good advice as well as a wide array of services including resum and cover letter review, mock interviews, and internship connections. Im not personally very familiar with the companies that recruit on campus. I do know that a couple of very good production houses worked closely with the Film department, and many students would move on to work with them upon graduation. VT: How are the various study areas such aslibraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Are they over-crowded, easily available, spacious? Zachary: Most of the dorms have some kind of study area inside. In my experience, they were usually easily available and very well put together, spacious, and especially good for group study. The library has a lot of study space as well, but does get extremely crowded during midterms and finals. Luckily, there are many other available locations for studying in almost all of the buildings that see very little use, and therefore are pretty much always available. VT: Describe the surrounding town. What kinds of outside establishments / things to do are there that make it fun, boring, or somewhere in between? To what extent do students go to the downtown area of the city versus staying near campus? Zachary: At first, Fort Worth seems like a fairly uninteresting city, but the more time I spent in it, the more and more fun things I found to do. By the end of my study, I was pretty sad to leave. Theres a fantastic zoo right by campus, as well as the Stockyards and Billy Bobs, a popular spot to two-step. Magnolia Street is filled with great restaurants and shops, and hosts awesome festivals. There are also food truck parks, the botanical gardens, and a few fantastic museums (especially the Museum of Modern Art). Students usually go out into the town several nights a week. VT: How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Zachary: I would say the student body is medium-sized. There were very few classes with more than 20 or so students, and those were generally the required freshman courses. Otherwise, many of my classes were anywhere from 8 to 15 students, which worked out fantastically in terms of engaging with the professor. Most professors used the small class sizes as an opportunity to make the classes more collaborative, which generally worked very well. VT: Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Zachary: One of the best experiences I had was when I approached the department about putting together my own academic research project for class credit. Not only did I already feel comfortable enough with the department to be able to ask in the first place, but I ended up working closely with the Dean of the College of Communications. He really took me under his wing in terms of teaching me basic approaches and methods of academic research and writing, and we developed a friendship through working together. To me, this experience epitomizes the best of what TCU has to offer: extremely intelligent, skilled professors who are also extremely accessible, helpful, and welcoming. The opportunities for developing yourself not just intellectually, but as a human being with the help of the incredible faculty are immense. Check out Zacharys tutoring profile. What is it Like to Attend Seattle Pacific University

What is it Like to Attend Seattle Pacific University The tutors behind Varsity Tutors are not just here to teach theyre sharing their college experiences as well. Alex received his Bachelors degree in Creative Writing from Seattle Pacific University. He is currently a tutor in New York City specializing in Reading, Writing, Test Prep, and several other subjects. See what he had to say about his experience at Seattle Pacific University: VT: Describe the campus setting and transportation options. How urban or rural is the campus? Did you feel safe on campus? Are there buses or do you need a car/bike? Alex: Seattle Pacific University has a beautiful, compact campus: big enough to walk around and enjoy, but small enough not to get lost in. At least, not after the first couple days! The school sits at the bottom of a hill between an upscale residential neighborhood and the canal wharfs. Its urban but quiet. For getting around to the rest of the city, I recommend a car or bike, but there are several perfectly good bus options too. VT: How available are the professors, academic advisers, and teaching assistants? Alex:Almost every class at Seattle Pacific University is taught by professors with PhDs (most of the exceptions are in subjects where the MA is the terminal degree, as in creative writing). The professors are almost always extremely available, welcoming students to their office hours, providing a lot of feedback on class work and offering extra help for students who are struggling or who want to bring their work to the next level. After several years, Im still in contact with several professors. VT: How would you describe the dorm life rooms, dining options, location, socialization opportunities with other students? Alex:Seattle Pacific University cultivates an active social life. Everyones experience varies, but I found the dorms very conducive to quick-forming, lasting friendships. There are quite a few campus groups and events as well. The dining commons is excellent and is shared by all on-campus students. VT: Which majors/programs are best represented and supported? What did you study and why? Did the university do a good job supporting your particular area of study? Alex:I studied English, and I think Seattle Pacific University has an excellent program, especially for a small school. The honors classes, the University Scholars, feature some of the top professors from across almost all of the disciplines, so I had the opportunity to take ample classes from philosophy, political science, physics, history, and more. VT: How easy or difficult was it for you to meet people and make friends as a freshman? Does Greek life play a significant role in the campus social life? Alex:It was very easy to make friends in the schools dorm life. Particularly at the beginning of the year, the school and individual dorm buildings and floors organize a lot of events designed to help students get to know each other. There are no fraternities or sororities. VT: How helpful is the Career Centerand other student support services?Do many reputable companies recruit on campus? Alex:The school is very helpful for finding employment during school, with internships and job fairs. However, if there is a career center, I never encountered it. Seattle Pacific University makes connections with reputable companies in the Seattle area. VT: How are the various study areas such aslibraries, the student union, and dorm lounges? Are they over-crowded, easily available, spacious? Alex:The library is spacious and well-stocked, and many of the other class buildings have designated areas to study and relax. Study lounge facilities vary by dorm, but are present and useful in all of them. Overcrowding is rare anywhere on campus. VT: Describe the surrounding town. What kinds of outside establishments / things to do are there that make it fun, boring, or somewhere in between? To what extent do students go to the downtown area of the city versus staying near campus? Alex:Seattle is a great city to be a student. Its a lot of fun, with a lot of cafes and restaurants, as well as concerts, shows, sports (go Mariners!), and other events. The school is about 20 minutes from downtown Seattle, and its just across the canal from the neighborhoods of Fremont (very artistic) and Ballard (lots of great hangout spots). Seattle is also a lot smaller and cheaper than other major city cultural hubs (like New York, for instance). Seattle is also very close to great hiking areas in the Cascades. VT: How big or small is the student body? Were you generally pleased or displeased with the typical class sizes? Alex:The student body was less than 4,500 when I went, and I imagine its still under 5,000. Its a pretty intimate campus, kind of like a small town. The undergraduate population is around 3,000, I think, so its easy to get to know people and be known by people. Class sizes varied a lot, but there were only a few that made it up to 100 students (mostly psychology. I hear we have a great psych department). Classes designed for students majoring in the subject were a lot smaller, running between 10 and 40 students, usually toward the smaller end. VT: Describe one memorable experience with a professor and/or class. Perhaps one you loved the most or one youregretthe most. Alex:We had a very rigorous professor for our second quarter honors class. He assigned us one paper per week (rough draft, then a final) on heavy classical literature. What he didnt know is that everyone loved him anyway. He was a great lecturer, the sort that holds your attention for an hour and a half and you wish class wasnt ending. Anyways, it was Valentines Day and about 20 of us were supposed to be studying, but instead we walked down to the local 7-11. We saw one of those huge oversized cards and bought it for the professor. When we presented it in class the next day (with our papers), he was totally overwhelmed. I thought you guys hated me! he exclaimed. Check out Alexs tutoring profile.
